ATHENS/LENS, Nov 21 (SW) - AC Milan suffered a surprise defeat by AEK Athens but are certain of winning this group, while the Greeks move into second place. Lille dropped to third after a draw with Anderlecht.

AEK Athens - AC Milan 1-0
Milan were the dominant side in the first half but could not stop AEK from opening the score after 32 minutes.

Clarence Seedorf fouled Liberopoulos outside the penalty area and Julio Cesar's following free kick hit the net to put the Greeks in the lead.

Milan continued to pressurize the opposing defense but manager Lorenzo Serra Ferrer's side kept the Rossoneri away from Sorrentino's goal.

The Italians are certain of winning this group, due to their victory over AEK earlier this season and the result in the other match in this Group on Wednesday.

Lille OSC - RSC Anderlecht 2-2
In the opening phase at the Felix-Bollaert stadium of Lens, Lille were the stronger side and created more opportunities.

This paid off in the 28th minute. Nigerian Peter Odemwingie scored his first Champions League goal, firing past goalkeeper Schollen for 1-0.

But the Belgians did not give up and levelled ten minutes later. A through ball by Ahmed Hassan was found by Mbo Mpenza, whose strike went in off the far post.

The first few minutes of the second half had exactly the same result as the entire first half. Nicolas Fauvergue restored Lille's lead in the 47th minute, scoring in the rebound after having a shot blocked by Bart Goor.

But the French were given only one minute to celebrate as Mpenza soon scored his second goal of the match. This time, the forward found his way past a defender and beat keeper Sylva for 2-2.

Anderlecht had to survive the final phase of the match without Van Damme, who was handed his second yellow card in the 88th minute.

No more goals were scored however and Lille allowed AEK Athens to move into second place. The French may miss out on European football alltogether if they lose to Milan in the last match while Anderlecht beat AEK.
