Lyon leave it late against Sedan

Written by: Stephen Sharp
SEDAN, Nov 18 (SW) - An own goal 11 minutes from the end allowed Lyon to extend their lead at the top of Ligue 1 after a 1-0 victory over Sedan.

Lyon started the brighter of the two sides with John Carew having a point-blank shot saved in the 13th minute and the Norwegian was again denied by Patrick Regnault 15 minutes later.

Sedan came out better after the second-half restart with Nicolas Marin forcing a save out of a Grégory Coupet, but Lyon quickly regained control but still couldn't take the lead as Juninho had a shot deflected wide from inside the area.

After Carew was denied by Regnault for a third time in the 72nd minute, Lyon needed bit of fortune to go in front in the 79th minute, and that came via Sedan midfielder Nadjim Abdou.

Abdou, while battling in the area with Cris, misguided the ball past Regnault after a centering pass by Hatem Ben Arfa.
