THE HAGUE, 20 Nov (Sw) - The Sunday Eredivisie match between ADO Den Haag and Vitesse was abandoned after home fans invaded the pitch.

Vitesse were leading 3-0 when parts of the home crowd invaded the pitch on 66 minutes. Referee Ruud Bossen immediately decided to call the match off.

Around one hundred members of the notorious hardcore ADO Den Haag supporters group (from the so-called Midden-Noord stand) managed to break through the barriers and entered the pitch.

While no violence took place, except for the kicking against billboards in front of the away stand, referee Bossen did not hesitate to call off the match.

ADO are the prime strugglers in the Eredivisie this season, with the club currently at the bottom of the league. Manager Frans Adelaar is under enormous pressure.

The home match against Vitesse was demonstrative for the abysmal form of the the Hague team. Full back Pascal Bosschaart was sent off after just thirteen minutes, and Vitesse got a penalty after Bodde made hands in the area.

Unrest grew, and things started to get unfriendly when Benson got jungle jeers and Bossen was harangued with hostile chants.
