MUNICH, Nov 18 (SW) - Bayern Munich moved back to within striking distance of the top as they took down leaders Stuttgart 2-1 at the Allianz-Arena on Saturday.

Stuttgart started the match well as they went in front on eight minutes when Mario Gomez found the back of the net for the visitors, but Roy Makaay was able to equalize for Bayern in the 27th minute to pull them back into the game.

Ten minutes later, Claudio Pizarro fired the German champions into the lead and sent them to the interval in front by a 2-1 score.

Both sides had chances in the second half, but Stuttgart failed to capitalize on any of them, and they now concede the leadership in the lead to Schalke who won 4-2 at Cottbus.
