LIVERPOOL, Nov 19 (SW) - Mikel Arteta has made it clear that playing for Everton will not diminish his chances of being called up for international football.
The 24 year old scored during Everton’s 1-0 over Bolton this weekend and there has already been reports that the midfielder could be called up to the Spanish squad.
Arteta did also point out that playing for Everton should not deter Spanish coach Luis Aragones from picking him.
"I want to make one thing clear because I have been reading some things I was supposed to have said that I will have to move from Everton to get into the Spanish squad," commented Arteta.
"I wasn't happy with that, very angry because I did not say it.
"If I cannot get into the Spanish squad it is because there are better players than me, or the manager likes other players, but never because I am here playing for Everton."
