MADRID, Nov 22 (SW) – Ruud van Nistelrooy, the Real Madrid and Netherlands striker said that he felt devastated at his penalty miss that would have won his side’s Champions League encounter against Olympique Lyon last night.
Coming back from a 0 – 2 deficit, Real came within an ace of clinching the match after a spirited fight back to leave the score at 2 – 2 before the 89th penalty miss by van Nistelrooy.
He told reporters after the game that he was satisfied with the team’s fighting spirit in clawing their way back into the game.
He added that he felt that he let his side down by missing that crucial spot kick that would have given them just reward for their endeavours.
