GLASGOW, Nov 21 (SW) – Manchester United’s boss Sir Alex Ferguson said that he thought that the two giants of Scottish football, Rangers and Celtic would never get a chance of playing in the English Premier League.
Sir Alex said that there has been talk for a while now about them making the journey to England to compete and while he feels that they will do well, the difficulties involved would prevent it from happening in the foreseeable future.
The smaller English clubs would not favour such a move as it would threaten their survival in the top flight while the bigger clubs would fear a Scottish threat.
For the time being, he said, the only competition between the top English and Scottish clubs would have to be confined to European competitions.
