CAIRO, Nov 22 (SW) – The nominees for the African Footballer of the year 2006 award have been announced.

Chelsea has two nominees in Didier Drogba and Michael Essien. Barcelona are represented by Samuel Eto’o while Portsmouth’s Nwanko Kanu and Egyptian African champions Al Ahly have Mohamed Aboutrika.

The announcement will be made in Abuja in Nigeria on the 18th of January.

Samuel Eto’o has won the award for the past three seasons.
